Alliance goes to Annapolis to oppose the MD Sales Tax on Engineering Services

House Bill 11 could make engineering services taxable, to the detriment of the manufacturing industry.

On November 1, 2007 Alliance traveled to Annapolis for a meeting with Senator Allan Kittleman to discuss the ramifications of House Bill 11 (HB11) on the engineering and private-sector manufacturing industries. Alliance presented a collective voice of opposition to HB11 and highlighted the far-reaching drawbacks of the pending tax legislation together with the two dozen clients, engineers and industry association members invited to Annapolis by Alliance, including: Jim Otradovec, Executive Director of ACEC MD; Bob Mead, Executive Director of MD SPE; and Alliance client Tom Russo, General Manager of Mittal Steel. All were instrumental in coordinating and gathering other engineering firms to oppose HB11.
